It is Christmas Eve once again. Watching my son get excited about Christmas certainly brings back great memories of my own happy childhood. It also makes me realize how many of us, including me at times, have lost our ability to believe we are worthy of things. In essence, we have lost our hope and our expectation. Life has a way of beating you down sometimes and it is hard to keep the positive momentum going when we are so used to getting shot down at every turn. It is easy to convince yourself to expect nothing. They say that you get out of something only what you put into it, so what is the message we are sending ourselves if we have no expectations?
It is difficult to prosper in life, without having high expectations for yourself. This brings me to my next subject as to how hypnosis can help you have higher expectations. We must start with trying to explain how hypnosis works. That is the magic question of course. In essence, the real magic happens in your subconscious mind, but only when you let your guard down enough to allow it to work its magic. Hypnosis equals misdirected attention + belief + expectation. I have found it extremely difficult to achieve the same results through any other medium, and I have tried them all! I have spent years studying the art of meditation, relaxation, affirmations and other techniques, and have found that they all require a skill I am not very good at, the skill of being able to turn my mind off enough to allow it to get into the alpha state where change is more easily made. Hypnosis has only one rule, you have to be able to close your eyes and relax, the Hypnotist does the rest, how much simpler could it be? Some people claim that they cannot be hypnotized, but I don’t buy it because we spend much of our day going in and out of different levels of trance every time we miss an exit on the highway, listen to music or even zone out while exercising. Just about anyone can be hypnotized. Now I say just about anyone, because certain people, such as those with a very low IQ or children with a short attention span, or even those with brain disorders, may have difficulty being able to relax and follow instructions. If you can relax and follow instructions, then you can be hypnotized; it’s as easy as that. The relaxation method, which is the method we prefer to use, is like a massage or spa treatment for your brain. It is a wonderful, supremely relaxing experience that everyone should try at least once. If you are one of those highly excitable people that has trouble relaxing, it just may take us a little longer to get you hypnotized. Once your brain has reached that Alpha level, we can insert customized suggestions into your subconscious mind, which will allow you too much more easily implement and make change.
Many of us are fighting an uphill battle, trying to make changes using our conscious mind. Our conscious mind doesn’t like change; it’s as simple as that. Our conscious minds job is to maintain the status quo. Our sub-conscious mind is like a tape recorder, it simply records and plays back everything it sees and hears. What is your sub-conscious mind telling you day in and day out? We carry bad memories and faulty recordings around with us, often from our childhood. Working with a Hypnotist who will sit down with you and create customized suggestions like we do, can often undo years of unhealthy programming. It is so easy to make changes utilizing Hypnosis. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a session in 2011. You won’t be sorry!
